![]() ![]() Cellar macvim how to#So now I can't learn TDD Django because vim, MacVim and eMacs users flood the internet but I can't remove it nor figure out how to work it.I installed macvim via brew install macvim -override-system-vim. I've been using P圜harm for a few years and love the interface but I need to dig deeper and a TDD Django book for class uses the terminal, it wants me to git -a "comments" so I need your advice. My original goal was to tag a git and push it but vim comes up and I can't figure out how to speak elvish. Please tell me there is a way I can switch to sublime or am I permanently cursed to have this confusing black screen of death pop up when I try to git push or git tag stuff? I've lost way too many hours trying to learn that outdated neckbeard elvish piece of UX trash so I want it gone. I wish VIM would die in "words redacted to excessive profanity" dumpster fire while a hobo "words redacted to excessive profanity" to put out the fire My old laptop was fortunate to have a friend remove it but my new machine still has it installed. I've spent the last three hours reading the same links on "how to remove VIM" only to get "how to remove MacVIM and reinstall it fresh" Or "How to remove Vim so I can reinstall it on Ubuntu" Cellar macvim mac#How to remove VIM (completely) and change my mac command line editor to sublime? rw-r-r- 1 root wheel hidden, compressed 313 installer.failurerequestsĭr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel hidden 1 Sep 24 07:59 netĭrwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel sunlnk, hidden 192 64 root wheel restricted, hidden 2048 1 root wheel restricted, hidden 11 tmp -> 9 root wheel restricted, hidden 288 1 root wheel restricted, hidden 11 var -> private/varĭefaults write AppleShowAllFiles YES ,/usr/include/,/Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0,/Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0/universal-darwin18,/Library/Ruby/Site,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0/universal-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0/universal-darwin18ĭrwxrwxr-x+ 59 root admin sunlnk 1888 Sep 23 16:46 Applicationsĭrwxr-xr-x+ 65 root wheel sunlnk 2080 Libraryĭrwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel hidden 64 5 root wheel restricted 160 Systemĭrwxr-xr-x 7 root admin - 224 8 root wheel hidden 256 Sep 23 21:17 37 root wheel restricted, hidden 1184 2 root admin hidden 64 coresĭr-xr-xr-x 3 root wheel hidden 4821 Aug 30 19:38 1 root wheel restricted, hidden 11 etc -> private/etcĭr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel hidden 1 Sep 24 07:59 home Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0,/Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/Library/Ruby/Site/2.3.0/universal-darwin18,/Library/Ruby/Site,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/2.3.0/universal-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0/x86_64-darwin18,/System/Library/Frameworks/amework/Versions/2.3/usr/lib/ruby/2.3.0/universal-darwin18 which one you need depends on the system you want to run it on and whether you ![]() to run vim you must get either one of the binary archives or a source archive. it includes the documentation, syntax files and other files that are used at runtime. this readme.txt file comes with the runtime archive. there are separate distributions for unix, pc, amiga and some other systems. porting to other systems should not be very difficult. vim runs under amiga dos, ms-dos, ms-windows (95, 98, me, nt, 2000, xp, vista, 7), atari mint, macintosh, beos, vms, risc os, os/2 and almost all flavours of unix. additionally, function keys can be defined by the user, and the mouse can be used. all commands are given with normal keyboard characters, so those who can type with ten fingers can work very fast. this editor is very useful for editing programs and other plain text files. see "runtime/doc/vi_diff.txt" for differences with vi. there is also a graphical user interface (gui) available. many new features have been added: multi-level undo, syntax highlighting, command line history, on-line help, spell checking, filename completion, block operations, etc. vim is an almost compatible version of the unix editor vi.
